Ken+Dana Design & Launch Party

Everything that is of the ken+dana design brand is crazzzzy creative and can be described as the "jewelry that takes chances, has a voice and looks fly." With an urban feel, and an extremely diverse design team that heirs from Hong Kong, Maine, and Brooklyn, k+d designs are non-traditional and unlike any accessories you have ever seen before. By focusing on exploring art and its relationship with body decoration, the designers experiment with materials and techniques that are way, way, wayyyy outside the normal "box" of jewelry making. With two labels, a beautiful, elegant fine jewelry line and it's opposite, yet complimentary, "b-side label," which references the "b-side" of a cassette tape -the place where artists are known to execute experiments- ken+dana aims to create a wide variety of pieces that are as diverse as their team is. For their newest collection under the "b-side label," entitled "Graffiti 2.0," the designers channel their urge to "paint on stuff." As an encore and follow-up to their extremely popular "Graffiti" collection, their ideas stem from their artistic backgrounds in painting what can be ever-so-time-consuming, street murals. Now, with the use of stencil techniques their graffiti art comes straight off of the walls and right onto the jewelry. This immediately helps to achieve both multiplicity and accessibility, and certainly gives them the ability to reach the masses in a much, much, much more timely fashion. The end product? An inssssssanely SICK collection of statement pieces that are all at once an exuberant mix of funky, bold, edgy and sexy with a straight-up city-street vibe. Dig it ALL.

Launch of Anuja Tolia Jewelry

Lately the only jewelry I have been wearing is Anuja Tolia. It is all that I wore in Miami (here,here, here, and here-where, I must add, it garnered compliments from numerous designers and even our favorite supermodel, Irina Shayk!), and it is all that I have been wearing out and about in my everyday NYC life.

I. AM. OBSESSED.

And...I assure you, it is not hard to be. At all.

I am ecstatic to be the first to introduce you to this up-and-coming designer and present to you her very first collection!

Tolia's debut collection is a glamorous mix of what she names as Indian artisanship and Western flare. She has not only traveled the globe, but she has studied across the world as well. With extensive time spent in New York City and in Florence, Italy, and what seems to be everywhere in between, her work certainly shows the influences of the numerous cultures that she has been immersed in. With the use of semi-precious stones, real silver, and gold plating, each piece exemplifies true beauty and a deep sophistication. Yet, it is worth noting the use of exotic and rough unfinished stones in much of her work, which gives her line an extremely contemporary, extremely edgy, and extremely playful twist. With the line divided into three sub-collections, named Florentine, Ready-to-Wear, and Couture, Tolia is able to speak to a wide variety of people. From the big and the bold to the intricate and the delicate, there is definitely a piece (or in my case many, many pieces) for everyone.

Alexandra Beth Designs

Alexandra Samit is no stranger to the world of accessories design. Since what seems like the moment she was able to hold a bead, she has been designing her own jewelry. Through travel and inspirations pulled from architecture, vintage findings, as well as stringing ideas together from the contents of her messy work desk, Alexandra has developed her skills to create a business that isn't on the verge of "making it," but is instead already beginning to absolutely boom!

Alexandra Beth Designs is the brainchild of Ms. Samit and is best known for its signature line of triple-wrap leather bracelets. These high quality, handmade pieces are often studded (we all know about my love affair with studs!!!) and are also often accented with other decorated design pieces. They have garnered a cult following from a wide range of consumers, varying from the glamourous socialite, to the classy sophisticate, and even to the girl who opts for that edgy, rocker chic style!
